match report

The Brotherton boys were at home this week to the undefeated Silsden Storm and on the back of a few losses the team was eager to get back to winning ways and from the get go they really meant business. From start to finish the boys dominated the field not only in defence but in attack too, with both stand off players out this week Alfie Newbould was placed in the role and Callum Dibb was his wing man together they marshalled the game very well keeping the positivity flowing when mistakes were made and getting the lads in the right position for the next set play. The first half was where Brotherton showed their presence in defence and put in some hard work in hot conditions a number of players leading in with the tackling which wore down the Silsden side making the Brotherton boys job easier in the second half where they ran away with the game. Making his debut in a fantastic style was Brandon Cusack this boy has been training with us for 3 weeks an waited patiently for a spot to open up in our numbers today was his day his patience paid off and he put in some great tackles some very strong runs bagging himself a try and Coaches MOM for his performance. Todays Opposition MOM went to Callum Dibb for not only his big tackles in defence but for his skill with the ball selling dummies all over field, he had the Silsden defence in bits not knowing what was going on an he made it very difficult for them to read the play putting in some sweet kicks to corners and getting the ball out wide down the line on top of all that he got himself 3 conversions too. This weeks parents MOM went to the rugby machine AKA Prashant Veerasamy with yet again another amazing performance in both defence and attack, Topping the tackle count and putting in some very strong runs getting himself 2 well earned tries in the process and always smiling while doing it. Putting in an awesome shift of rugby today was Brandon Lovell and having his first go at being captain today he did very well in both defence and attack having some blistering runs round outside getting himself a try and a number of good tackles put in on the defensive front.
It was a great all round team victory today with a number of players stepping their game up and deserve some mentions, Bobbi Robinson another new player to our team recently who has really made his presence felt in our team with some amazing tackling this week he had his first time in the full back role and he fulfilled his role very well making 2 text book try saving tackles. Wingers Ashton Crawshaw and Vaughn Edwards worked well defending the wings, This weeks Super Sub was Ryan Hughes putting in some aggressive runs, Forwards Jamie Ben Townend, Oliver Williams-Vipurs and Jack Rollin all ran strong and defended well. Tom Waite spotted a few gaps and got himself in there getting us some vital yards also tackled well, also a good effort put in by Noah Cooper sliding into the scrum half role this week.
